Genos offers two options for measuring the emotional intelligence of job candidates: a Behaviour-based approach; and an Ability-based approach. Both ensure you’ll find candidates who are more likely to demonstrate the Productive States on the right of our model rather than the Unproductive States of emotional intelligence on the left of our model below.

Self Assessment

The Genos Selection Assessment measures how well candidates demonstrate emotionally intelligent workplace behavior. It is extensively researched and validated. It includes sophisticated measures of lie detection, inflated scores and inconsistent responding, and adjusts scores accordingly to ensure meaningful results are provided.

The survey is timed, providing candidates with 30 minutes to complete.

Emotional Aperture Assessment

The Emotional Aperture Measure is a scientifically validated, ability-based measure of emotional intelligence. Unlike other EQ assessments that measure a candidate’s ability to read emotions in single faces, EAM assesses a candidate’s ability to accurately identify the emotions of others in groups. Just as an effective cognitive ability test correlates with IQ, the ability to accurately identify the emotions of others correlates positively with general measures of emotional intelligence, or EQ. Scores on the assessment meaningfully correlate with self-awareness, empathy, behavioural agility, resilience and the capacity to positively influence others.
